Islands that are off the beaten path

Exploring Hidden Paradises: A Bocas Academy Adventure in Kuspine

Living in an archipelago like Bocas del Toro offers a unique opportunity to explore parts of the islands that are off the beaten path. At Bocas Academy, we believe that living in such a biodiverse environment is an invaluable educational experience for our students. That’s why we make island exploration a part of our curriculum, allowing students to discover the wonders of their surroundings firsthand.

Weekend trips with classmates, parents, and friends are a highlight of the school year. These trips not only provide an opportunity for adventure but also strengthen bonds and create memories that will last a lifetime. One such adventure took us to the mainland of Kuspine, where a hidden beach known only to the local indigenous tribes awaits.

This secluded paradise is perfect for a day of relaxation and adventure. To reach the beach, we had to jump from the boat and float the coolers to shore for a perfect picnic on the white sand. But the real magic lies beyond the beach, where a jungle trail leads to a rope swing and a series of waterfalls and mineral pools.

As we climbed the waterfalls and swung from the rope, we couldn’t help but marvel at the beauty and richness of the jungle. The air was fresh, the sounds of nature surrounded us, and for a moment, we were all a part of something bigger than ourselves. It’s moments like these that remind us of the importance of connecting with nature and appreciating the world around us.

Seeing the world through a different lens, one that is focused on nature and life, is a transformative experience. Suddenly, creatures like iguanas are no longer something to fear but rather something to admire and respect. We are guests in their world, and they allow us to be a part of it for a day.

At Bocas Academy, we strive to instill a sense of wonder and appreciation for the world in our students. By bringing them closer to nature and exposing them to new perspectives, we hope to inspire them to become stewards of the environment and compassionate citizens of the world.
